Overview
This unforgettable tour begins with a horseback ride to visit to the ironshore – coral reef that emerged from the ocean centuries ago, which supports a unique eco-system of cacti, palms, orchids, air plants and the graceful Gumbalimba tree. Along the way, you will see a myriad of fruit trees – almond, cashew, banana, coconut, seagrape, guava, mango, papaya, to name a few. The ride continues with a stroll through the touristic village of West End located right at the water’s edge, where the street is lined with all sorts of flowering shrubs – hibiscus, mandeville, bougainvillea, oleander. The tour culminates with a walk or trot (depending on your riding ability) over a long stretch of secluded beach, with palms and pines on one hand and the crystal ocean on the other. Keep you eyes open for lizards, iguanas, and birds such as parrots, albatross, pelicans, and woodpeckers.
The Roatan chocolate factory and rum tour are perfect for tourists in search of gastronomic and authentic local experiences. The chocolate factory is a small-scale chocolate company in Roatan, Honduras, their primary mission is to create the finest chocolate in Central America, and obviously the WORLD! 🙂 while also giving back to the local indigenous communities and protect the rainforest where our cacao comes from.
After the visit to the chocolate factory, is time for a more tasting experience, this time at the Roatan Rum Company. Is located between West End and West Bay. The Roatan lighthouse is near the Rum Company, very recommended if want to have a 180 degrees view. At the Rum factory, you will have free samples of their homemade rums and cakes, just perfect for tropical weather.
